KOLONIST in Pommern 1800s

My great great grandfather Wilhelm Steinhaus (1812-1905) has the word "kolonist) written after his name in every record I have found. He has the village of Doorotheenthal (Kreise Regenwalde) listed on the ship manifest from 26 April 1873 when at age 60 he left Hamburg for America. Do separate and distinct records exist in Germany for kolonists who responded to King Friedrich I's call for settlers in Pomerania? I am lost trying to locate a birthplace and/or parents for my ancestor.
