Langenberg?

I am seeking information on my ancestor Johann Rudiger Mueller. The link is his 1685 marriage to Elisabetha Catharina. An Archion user kindly transcribed the entry:

H(err) Johan Rudiger Mueller von Langenberg in der Herrschafft Hartenberg H(err) Johannes Muellers daselbsten ehelicher Sohn....

I am unsure of the location of Langenberg. The only Langenberg I see on a map is near Bielefeld / Gutersloh / Paderborn. This seems a great distance from Obermoschel/Odernheim.

Or is the correct location Hartenberg-Munchfeld?

Or perhaps a different "Langenberg" I am not aware of?

In either case, I do not see records for the 1600s on Archion. But I would like to know, if possible, where he was from.

"Herrschaft Hartenberg" = Herrschaft Hardenberg

In that article, in line 2 - note the place name "Langenberg" - follow the corresponding link and you have the correct location.

Hello Ellen,

in the register of an old atlas I find three places named Langenberg:
- Langenberg near Gera,
- the Langenberg near Gütersloh you already know, and
- Langenberg near Wuppertal

and there are is a Langenburg:
- Langenburg near Künzelsau, Schwäb. Hall and Crailsheim
