Location in Bavaria?

I am hoping someone can help me. My husband's grandfather Anton Steinhauser was born 5 May 1875 in Unterhaselbach which we were told was a part of Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg in Bayern. I am having trouble locating this parish on Archion even though I know it is in the Dekanat Geiselhöring (St. Georg)

I am not a native German speaker so I think I might be missing something to be able to locate this on the system. I am hoping to locate him as I have not found much information about Anton's parents, Thomas and Ottilia. All of the records so far we have for them are after Ottilia comes to the US with another son Frank in 1890.

I appreciate any help you can give me!

Good evening,

is it possible that the ancestor you're looking for is of Roman Catholic religious belief?

If so, please note regarding Archion's holdings:

quote
"Core philosophy
Archion is a cooperative project among the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the majority of regional protestant churches in Germany...."
end of quote

as to be found here:

In other words, if you're looking for Roman Catholic church registers Archion is the "wrong potential source", sorry.

Regards, Vera

Unterhaselbach is part of the roman-catholic parish of Ascholtshausen in the diocese of Regensburg. The parish registers are not available online. In fact, the diocese has just started recently with digitalization and stated, that this will take years and that they don't want to provide information about the status.

However, it should be possible to research in person in the Bisachöflisches Zentralarchiv Regensburg. It is also possible to engage the archive staff for genealogical research. Current fee is 35€ for 30 minutes work plus costs for copies.

For the protestant parishes:

Geiselhöring is a rather new parish. It exists only since the 1950s.

Neufahrn (Niederbayern) is also rather new, it used to belong to Straubing.

Not 100% sure, but I think none of these existed in 1875.

Agreed, absolutely. Thanks.

Other than that….
It should be pretty easy in the US to determine your ancestor‘s religious belief.
