Kleve (Cleve) Records

I wonder if anyone has advice on finding records in Cleve. I can trace relatives there to the early 1800s. I have found some Cleve records in the catalogs at Family Search. Thank you for any input.

Regards,

Ellen

The Lutheran church books of Kleve are not listed at Archion. If you have found the exact data at Familysearch, it would make more sense in my opinion to order copies of the civil status documents of the registry office via the town archive of Kleve, because these documents (since 1798) have more data than an entry in the church register. A document costs about 5.-€. Good luck and best regards - Klaus

Klaus,

Thank you very much for the link and contact information. I will contact them. I appreciate your time.

Hallo, Kime215,

Ulrike

You can find the church books for Kleve/Cleve on Matricula's website (free). Here is a link to their website:
https://data.matricula-online.eu
Type "Kleve" in the search box and you will get a list of churches and books that you can search for free.
I use their website a lot and have found many valuable records there.

Thank you for the replies. Most of your responses I have only seen today. Matricula is very useful but the records I am seeking are not online. I wonder if anyone here owns "Edition Bruhl" for Kleve and would be willing to do a lookup(s)? I am interested in both the Evangelical and the Catholic entries. Thank you.

Regards,

Ellen
