Paul Döhle von Bremen nach Bergen im 17. Jahrhundert

Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask, and I am terribly sorry for not writing in German, but my German is much too poor. I will include a Google Translate version, and I can normally read what you write in German

One of my ancestors is Paul Döhle, sometimes written Pofuel/Pouel/Poul and Døll/Döhl/Døle. He is found in some papers as the son of Herman Döhle, a brewer, from Bremen. He serves for a Didrich Döhle that is probably a relative in Bergen. He is told to be 18 years in 1674 and when he dies, is told to have been born October 1st 1656 in Bremen.

Seems like this should be enough to learn more about his familiy - if there still are records of such in Bremen. Could anyone guide me in the archives if such exists?

Thank so much in advance,
Baard Vidar Petteren

Oktober 1656 in Bremen geboren.

Baard Vidar Petteren

Hello to Norway.

I am sorry to inform you that Archion doesn’t have any Bremen church registers online available at all.

But there is a wonderful, well versed genealogical society in Bremen named, Die Maus e.V., which is your number one choice for your request.
And I am sure, they are able to help.

Please refer to this post since it contains all necessary contact links plus a bunch of other information which may be of interest

Kind regards
Vera

Thank you so much! I will try to contact them!

Thank you! So that pretty much confirms his birthplace. That's great news. Too bad there's no record of parents. And I assume there will be slim chance to find the parents in other materials from that time?

Again, please contact the „Maus“ as the(!) number one specialists for Bremen.

They closely have at hand what will be possible, what may be derived from other historical records etc.

Thanks.

You can search for marriage/banns records concerning his father Hermann.

Unfortunately, the St. Ansgarii alphabetical index is not available online (https://www.arcinsys.niedersachsen.de/arcinsys/detailAction.action?detailid=v8658225), so one has to scroll manually through the respective pages:

Overview of Bremen church registers: https://www.staatsarchiv.bremen.de/sixcms/media.php/13/Kirchenbücher_Übersicht.pdf

Email!
(They will reply without any delay.)

They have a mailing list as well, but that is an internal list open to society members only.

You should closely inspect their website as well.
