I am looking for the marriage of Jacob Ros[s?] of Baden and Elisabeth Dentinger (born in the Bas Rhin as a French citizen possibly in 1831). The wife was Lutheran and the husband Catholic. I have looked at 348 town’s marriage records in the Landesarchiv Findbuchs from north and south Baden, concentrating on towns to the west near the Rhine. According to the ship manifest of 1855 when the couple went to Amerika, he was born in 1827-1828. Question 1: how common was it for Catholics to marry Lutherans in 1854? Question 2: how common was it for French women to marry men from Baden? Surely, this was a love match, but my great great grandparents marriage record is in hiding. Not found in France either.
