Please Note:

Depending on which device you use ARCHION with, the website will be presented in a slightly different way.

  • If you work with a laptop or PC, you see the desktop version.
  • If your PC screen is set to a higher zoom level, or you use a tablet or smartphone, you see the mobile version.

You can use all functions offered by ARCHION with both versions, but the arrangement of the individual elements may vary from device to device. In case you don’t find a function or button immediately, scroll a little up or down.
The menu bar is displayed in a reduced size in the mobile version. "Discover Archion" and the forum can be found on the right below the three dashes. "Sign in" can be found on the right above the person icon.

In our forum you can discuss genealogical topics with other interested researchers. Please note our terms and conditions and the discussion guidelines.
To enter the forum click on "Forum" above. If you are not logged in yet, you will be asked to do so now.
On the page that opens, you will find all the topics that the community has discussed so far. To read a topic or to write something there, click on the topic. You will then find more appropriate subtopics below the topic. To read a subtopic or to write something there, click on it. You will now find all answers to this topic listed chronologically. At the very bottom you can write something by yourself.

If there was no suitable subtopic, you can create a new subtopic. To do so, write a title for your topic in the top line above the subtopics. A message field will open directly below. Here you can formulate your question or your message and then click on "Post thread" at the bottom right.

Guidelines for use the forum

Our forum allows you to exchange thoughts and ideas about genealogical topics with other interested users of our platform. Please follow our general terms and conditions as well as the following discussion guidelines: 

  • When selecting a topic to discuss on the platform, please note that this is a professional forum.
  • Please maintain an open, respectful, and sober tone. Inappropriate, disparaging, and off-topic comments are not welcome.
  • The following types of comments are prohibited:
  • a. Insulting, derogatory, hate-related, pornographic, obscene, and matters relevant to criminal investigations, as well as other content intended to damage Archion’s reputation
  • b. Untruthful factual claims
  • c. Comments that violate the privacy or other personal rights of third parties
  • d. Comments that violate copyright, performance protections or trademark rights of third parties
  • e. Comments made for advertising purposes
  • If you find prohibited content or content of questionable character on the forum, please let us know by writing an email to info@archion.de.
  • Users that violate these guidelines may be prohibited from further use of the forums.
  • We reserve the right to block or to permanently delete any content deemed illegal or that violates the guidelines for forum use.

Have you found a user in the forum that shares your interest and would like to connect with them? The best way is to write them a private message.

All users registered on Archion can write messages to one another. Use this feature to exchange ideas and connect with other researchers.

To send or read messages, first sign in via "Sign in". Then click on "Profile" at the top right and then "My messages" below that. You are now in the forum. Here you can see an overview of all your previous messages.

How do I write a message?

To start a new conversation with another researcher, click on the green "Start conversation" button at the top right.
In the window that opens, enter the recipient's username. In the field below write a short subject. And in the large field you can then write your message. To send the message, click on the blue "Start conversation" button at the bottom center.

How can I receive messages?

To read messages, go to "Profile" as described above. If a green dot appears next to "My messages", you have a new message. Click on "My messages".
In the next window, you will now see a small envelope in the upper right corner with a small red number next to it. Click on the envelope and then click on the new conversation. To reply, simply write in the box below the message and then click "Post reply" on the right.
